HAPS Definition of Contingent Faculty

Contingent Faculty:  to include part-time faculty, temporary contract-length faculty, and faculty teaching at more than one institution to achieve full-time employment.

HAPS recognizes that the changing demographics of higher education make previous definitions of terms like “adjunct faculty” simply not relevant today.  As a result, the board has voted to recognize a new group, which many call Contingent Faculty, and give this group the discounts we previously reserved for “part-time” faculty.  If you meet the definition above, please be sure to look at our reduced membership rates and targeted scholarships.
