2019 President’s Medal was presented by President Judi Nath to…
Jon Jackson
The President’s Medal is an award given by the current HAPS President to a HAPS member who demonstrates exemplary service to the organization. This year’s President’s Medal goes to friend, colleague, and laudable HAPS member, Dr. Fun himself, Jon Jackson. Dr. Jon Jackson is an associate professor at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine, Fellow in the History and Philosophy of Science at the University of North Dakota, and a visiting professor at St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. Jon has been a HAPS member since 2002. During this time, he has served on countless committees, including the regional conference planning committee, nominating committee, cadaver use committee, testing committee, and the steering committee. He has chaired the membership committee, served as a regional director on the board for multiple terms, and acted as the American Association of Clinical Anatomists liaison for the HAPS credentialing task force. Jon has presented a poster or workshop at every HAPS annual meeting since 2004. He is a gregarious guy who puts the fun in fundraising, and he is currently chairing the Fundraising Committee. He is a gifted writer, using his talents as a contributor to the HAPS Educator, HAPSblog, and HAPS Listerv. Although he has a doctorate and did post-doc work, he also whetted his insatiable intellectual appetite by participating in a HAPS-I course.
As a globe trotter, he has a penchant for learning and making the most out of life. As an educator, he is outstanding. As an anatomist, he is world class. But as a HAPSter, his service is unparalleled. We are an organization given to collegial partnerships and academic service – Jon gives to both branches and then some. His tank is always full, and his spirits are always high. Thanks, Jon, for all you do.
