Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee

The purpose of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee is to facilitate inclusive classroom instruction by developing best practices and resources for inclusive teaching of anatomy and physiology, to provide professional development opportunities for HAPS members related to equitable and inclusive teaching of anatomy and physiology, and to foster a sense of belonging for diverse members of HAPS by advocating for and ensuring inclusive practices within the organization and at HAPS events.

Our Focus on Anatomy & Physiology

The Human Anatomy and Physiology Society is a diverse community of educators dedicated to inclusive excellence. As a community, we commit to creating spaces of belonging and accessibility for all members by embracing diversity and promoting equity and inclusion. We strive to provide professional development with the goal of reducing barriers to success in educational and professional settings. Our goals and initiatives include:

Identifying strategies to ensure HAPS membership reflects the diversity of A&P educators.

Identifying strategies that ensure our leadership reflects the populations we serve.

Supporting outreach and events to foster a sense of belonging for all HAPS members.

Collaborating with conference organizers to ensure inclusive practices at HAPS events.
