HAPS Learning Outcomes
HAPS Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes (LOs) – HAPS has developed three sets of learning outcomes for the three types of anatomy and physiology courses: combined anatomy and physiology (A&P) learning outcomes for a two-semester undergraduate A&P course sequence, anatomy learning outcomes for a one-semester undergraduate anatomy course, and physiology learning outcomes for a one-semester undergraduate physiology course. All three sets of learning outcomes are far more comprehensive than any student can learn in one term or semester. Instructors will need to select the topics and outcomes that are appropriate for their course and their students.
The Human A&P LOs and Human Anatomy LOs were substantially revised in Fall 2019 and are not expected to be revised again before 2029. The Physiology Learning Outcomes were released in 2023. A comparison of the content covered in each set of learning outcomes is in Table 1 below.
HAPS has developed validated standardized exams for A&P and stand-alone Anatomy courses based on the associated sets of learning outcomes. Instructors who wish to evaluate their students’ performance are invited to learn more about the HAPS exams here.
