HAPS Physiology Learning Outcomes
HAPS Physiology Learning Outcomes
The HAPS Physiology Learning Outcomes reflect content that might be taught in a typical one-semester Human Physiology course at the undergraduate level. We recognize there is tremendous variability in how introductory physiology is taught at institutions across the country. Consequently, the Physiology LOs are far more comprehensive than any student can learn in one term or semester. Instructors will need to select the topics and outcomes that are appropriate for their course and their students.
The LOs in the physiology modules have been keyed, when appropriate, to core concepts of physiology as well as to skills that can be practiced with the LO. (For additional information, please see the documents posted or linked in the Physiology LO section.)

Downloading the HAPS Learning Outcomes
All HAPS Learning Outcomes are available in two formats: PDF and Word. We suggest the PDF version for printing, as its formatting should be retained regardless of computing platform. The Word versions are available for adopters who wish to edit and use a subset of the Learning Outcomes.

We would also like to thank HAPS partner Cengage for their financial support of the 2022 in-person meeting at which the expert panel was able to complete the physiology learning outcomes after the long delay created by the pandemic. Finally, we appreciate the support of HAPS staff, particularly Peter English and Caitlin Hyatt.
