Presentation & Author Policies
Justification of HAPS author and presenter policies:
HAPS believes that the intellectual contribution to each activity should guide our published statements of attribution.
In the case of posters, HAPS believes that the defining intellectual achievements are completed at the home institution of each individual. Because the intellectual contribution happens away from the conference, we believe it is important to acknowledge both those individuals who were able to travel to the conference and those who were not. In this case, the first line acknowledges all of those who made an intellectual contribution to the actual work on display, and the next line acknowledges those who brought it to the HAPS community.
In the case of workshops, HAPS believes that the defining intellectual achievement happens in the room when the workshop is shared with other participants. While it may be that the presenter of the workshop has received a great deal of help in preparing for the workshop, what happens in the room is entirely the result of people in that room. For this reason, HAPS does not recognize people who are not attending the conference as having an authorship role in workshops. Individuals who may have assisted the presenter with the development of the workshop instead may be listed in an acknowledgement slide at the discretion of the presenter. Published Workshop descriptions will include lines for primary Presenter and Co-Presenters. All presenters and co-presenters must be registered for the workshop portion of the conference and be present for the assigned workshop session. Authors and co-authors will not be listed and their inclusion in any abstract will be counted against the abstract word limit. Presenters not registered by the deadline will be removed from the workshop description and not included in either the conference book or conference edition of HAPS-Ed. Example is below:
WORKSHOP TITLE
PRESENTER
CO-PRESENTERS
Published poster descriptions will include separate lines for Presenter, Co-Presenters and Authors. All presenters and co-presenters must be registered for the update portion of the conference and present for the assigned poster session. Authors who are not presenters do not need to be registered for the conference. Presenters and co-presenters not registered by the deadline will be removed from the poster description and not included in either the conference book or conference edition of HAPS-Ed. Example is below:
